Hello! I'm Keziah and welcome to my new Dreamwidth journal.
It has been decades since I've kept any kind of blog/journal/diary so please bear with me over the coming weeks as I settle down and figure out how to use Dreamwidth. I used to blog on Livejournal when I was a teenager but haven't really done anything since I left university - and I turn 41 this year!
My journal to-do list so far includes icons, layout, font, and writing a brief profile page. First, however, is this first, introductory, post. Just as soon as I figure out what to say.
Hello, I'm Keziah, I'm 40, my pronouns are she/her and I'm a straight, cis-gendered, white, woman living in Greater Manchester. I've been married to my high school sweetheart, and the love of my life, Jonah since 2001 (although we've been together since 1998!) We have 6 (yes, six!) amazing children: Daniel (12), Jonathan (11), Zachary (9), Naomi (8), Jemima (6) and Abigail (33 months), and I'm 21 weeks pregnant with another little girl who is probably called Samantha and, from the feel of things, she's just finding her feet. As you can imagine, life can be quite hectic and chaotic, so moments of calm where I can be myself are important to find.
Abi started nursery at the beginning of this year and it's given me some time rediscover a few of the things that make me me - hence the name of the journal. Finding the real Keziah - if only for a few months until the baby arrives. I seem to mostly have found my love of art again, and started doing paint by numbers. Jemima had a colour by numbers book for Christmas, it looked a lot of fun so I got myself one - it was indeed a lot of fun and it's kind of grown from there. I've always loved art - making it (painting, doodling), looking at it, and learning about it (one of my degrees is in art history).
When I'm not parenting, making art or sleeping, I love to read. My favourite books are Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, Harry Potter, The Mortal Instruments, Twilight and Fifty Shades of Grey. My favourite genres are classics and contemporary romance, as well as non-fiction books about art, history, philosophy and religion. I've started reading Stephen King this year and am slowly falling in love with Emily Henry. I'm tracking my reading for the first time on storygraph and am working on cataloguing all my books. So far, my profile says I
Music is always playing. I listen to music while reading, doing art, doing housework. I'm really into Lana Del Rey at the moment, and through Naomi & Jemima I'm discovering - and loving - Taylor Swift. I also really enjoy Verdi, Holst & Wagner. I play piano as well, but generally don't have a lot of time to sit and play. Oh to have both more hours in the day and more energy to use them!
Other hobbies and interests include baking & cooking, crafting, dancing, watching football or gymnastics, rearranging furniture, meditation, playing tennis, practicing yoga and sleep. Although honestly, Jonah & I usually end up collapsed on the couch in front of the TV once everyone's gone to bed. We really enjoy watching Doctor Who, Good Omens, Macgyver, Sanctuary, Sherlock and Stargate, and I love a good period drama as well as Shadowhunters. Movie-wise I enjoy Harry Potter, Twilight, Fifty Shades of Grey. I do love a good rom-rom and Jonah's trying to get me to watch the Marvel movies. My favourite actors include Christopher Heyerdahl, Colin Firth, David Tennant, Hugh Grant, Michael Sheen, Richard Dean Anderson and Tom Hiddleston.

Mainly reads fiction books that are emotional, dark, and mysterious. Typically chooses medium-paced books that are 300-499 pages long.
